President Lee Jae Myung says he will work harder to ensure that a bright light can shine on the life of every citizen, regardless of their qualifications, conditions, or differences in views.
Lee made the pledge in a holiday greeting video released Friday, filmed with his wife, Kim Hea Kyung, to mark Chuseok, saying it’s a time when South Koreans can see the same full moon wherever they are in the world.
He also expressed his deep gratitude and respect to everyday citizens, including sanitation workers, farmers, fishermen, military personnel, police officers, firefighters and medical workers, as well as overseas Koreans working hard to represent the country.
Noting that although people live in different places, hold different jobs and follow different paths, Lee said they share a common affection for their country, adding that he’s grateful and honored as president to be with the “great Korean people.”

The first lady also wished everyone a meaningful Chuseok holiday filled with happiness shared with loved ones.
Lee left South Korea on Monday for a trip to the United States and Mexico and is scheduled to return home on Sunday.
