A Palestinian man was killed in an Israeli drone strike Friday while visiting his brother’s grave at a cemetery in central Gaza, medical and local sources told Anadolu.
Ibrahim Fawzi Ismail Mohsen, 36, was beside the grave of his brother Khalil at Al-Sawarha cemetery when the strike hit, the sources said. Khalil was killed in Deir al-Balah on May 11, 2024, aged 37.
Ibrahim’s death brings to five the number of brothers the family has lost during Israel’s war on Gaza, according to information gathered by Anadolu and local sources.
The other brothers were Ismail, 40, killed on Oct. 7, 2023; Mohammed, 32, killed on Nov. 12 that year; Khalil; and Youssef, 28, killed on July 6, 2024, when Israel struck Al-Jaouni School, which was sheltering displaced people in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
More than two years after Khalil’s death, Ibrahim’s visit to his grave ended with his own killing at the cemetery.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed nearly 74,000 Palestinians and wounded around 175,000 since October 2023, according to figures from Gaza health authorities.
