The night seemed destined for celebration at the stadium near Gorica.
A positive atmosphere in the stands, a dominant performance by Montenegrin football players and a victory that was achieved the hard way – by a coup against Cyprus at the start of the Nations League C (2:1).
Mirko Vučinić’s team had to literally bleed to win, and they deserved it.
After they literally bombarded the Cypriot goal with a real cyclone of attacks in the first half – and were not lucky enough to score, they faced a real shock in the 10th minute of the second half, when the guests took the lead under Gorica.
They managed to rise from that and celebrate a great victory; great – because it has not been in a competitive important match for a long time, great because it is the beginning of the Nations League; great because of the way it was won…

The score was 2:1 – a tense game, and it was, but the “falcons” fully deserved to crown a phenomenal game with three points.
They were brought to them by Nikola Krstovića and Milutin Osmajić, a tandem of strikers from Serie A, who forced their rival to capitulate with their strength and quality.
Mirko Vučinić’s team “flew” around the field in the first half, attacking the Cypriots from all sides, and it’s a real miracle that Nikola Krstović’s shots on two occasions and Andrija Bulatović’s on three occasions didn’t end up in the net.

After 0:0 at half-time, it was Cyprus who took the lead, creating two chances in a minute and Edwards scoring, but even then the “falcons” did not think about surrendering.
Midway through the second half, Marko Vešović forced a penalty that was converted by Krstović (he had hit the post just a few tens of seconds earlier), and then the Atalanta striker assisted Osmajić for the triumph.
In the 86th minute, Marko Janković sent the ball into the opponent’s penalty area, Krstović headed it into the box, and Osmajić waited and made no mistake – he gave Montenegro what it deserved.
