South Korea lost to Japan in the Super Round of baseball at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
The national team suffered a 5-0 shutout defeat against Japan on Friday in their opening Super Round match of the tournament at Toyohashi Municipal Baseball Stadium in Nagoya.
The four-time defending champion, consisting of star players from the Korea Baseball Organization, managed just four hits against the Japanese team consisting of amateur players.
South Korea and Japan had each won all three preliminary games to advance to the Super Round, also joined by Chinese Taipei and China.
South Korea earlier won a group stage match against Chinese Taipei, while Japan defeated China in their group.
Should Japan win against Chinese Taipei and South Korea defeat China on Saturday, the two sides will face off again on Sunday for the gold medal.
