In Cyprus, 12 people were detained during an overnight police operation on suspicion of offenses including assault, carrying a knife and driving under the influence of alcohol. Cyprus Mail reports, citing a police statement.
Checks of vehicles and establishments
According to police, officers stopped 815 vehicles and checked 1,052 people inside them. They also inspected 57 establishments as part of measures to combat illegal activity and recorded 13 violations.
During roadside checks, police issued 362 notices for various violations. Another 12 suspected traffic violations are under review. Ten vehicles were impounded as part of the operation.

Road violations
Of the notices issued, 128 concerned speeding and 23 concerned driving under the influence of alcohol. Police also recorded one case of driving under the influence of drugs.
Law enforcement officers conducted 307 alcohol tests and six drug tests on drivers.
