Lucas Bianchi completes move from Super Rugby Americas to Italy

Lucas Bianchi has completed a move from Super Rugby Americas (SRA) to Italy. The Uruguayan flanker will play for Viadana in the Serie A Elite. The Serie A Elite division is the premier rugby division in Italy.

The 25-year-old flanker has been a permanent feature in Los Teros’ teams for a number of years. Bianchi represented Uruguay at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, and returned to Uruguay to become a vital member of Peñarol’s leadership team.

Now, in just under one year before Rugby World Cup 2027 starts, Bianchi has secured his playing future in Italy. His move follows other Peñarol players as Uruguayans are obtaining contracts in the key European season before Australia 2027.
