South Korean equestrian rider Nam Dong-heon won gold in the individual dressage event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Sunday, reclaiming the title for South Korea for the first time in 12 years.
Nam scored 75-point-190 points with his horse, Leonidas, in the final at the Equestrian Park in Tokyo to finish first overall.
His victory marked South Korea’s first Asian Games gold medal in individual dressage since the 2014 Incheon Games.
It was Nam’s second medal of the Games after he helped South Korea win silver in the team event Thursday alongside Kim Shi-woo, Lee Myeong-seok and Do Hyun-woo.
Nam posted the highest score among all competitors in the team event, earning 70-point-559 points and signaling his strong form ahead of the individual final.
Often described as “ballet on horseback,” dressage involves riders guiding their horses through a set course while performing a series of prescribed movements.
