An independent English-language online newspaper in Ukraine has criticized Kyiv’s recent disclosure of having sent two North Korean prisoners of war(POWs) to South Korea.
The Kyiv Independent said on Monday that the government of Volodymyr Zelenskyy has “just angered” another partner that sits on an “arsenal of weapons that Kyiv wants,” adding to its “string of diplomatic mishaps.”
The online outlet mentioned how a little over a month ago Zelenskyy had requested South Korean air defense weapons that would protect Ukraine from Russian ballistic missiles.
Russia’s state-run RIA Novosti news agency published an op-ed, suggesting that Zelenskyy had deliberately broke a nondisclosure agreement on the POW repatriation with Seoul in retaliation against President Lee Jae Myung’s opposition to arms provision.
