Train Sim World 7 has officially expanded its journey into Japan with the release of its first Asian route, Tadami Line: Aizu-Wakamatsu – Tadami. Developed by Union Workshop and published by Dovetail Games, the new add-on is now available on PC via Steam and Epic Games, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
The 88km rural railway takes players through the scenic Fukushima prefecture, offering a slower-paced driving experience across traditional towns, cherry-blossom-filled landscapes, forests, and river valleys. The route also introduces new signalling and ATS safety systems, giving players new mechanics to learn while exploring the Japanese countryside.
Set before the 2011 flooding that severed part of the Tadami Line, the add-on recreates the complete route with the KiHa 40 diesel railcar. Players can travel through either spring or winter conditions and choose from several authentic liveries, including JNR Orange, Niigata White and Blue, and Tohoku White and Green. The expansion also features 28 stations, a timetable based on real-world operations, and five scenarios covering different sections of the route.
Dovetail Games has also teamed up with Japanese artist Kaoru Akagawa for a special piece of artwork inspired by the Tadami Line. Her illustration draws from her experience with kana shodo, blending traditional Japanese calligraphy with the route’s scenery.
