Tracked armored vehicles ordered by Finland and Sweden for field testing

HELSINKI, Finland. Finland and Sweden have placed initial orders for Patria TRACKX tracked armored vehicles, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027 ahead of national and joint field testing, Patria announced in a statement.

Finland will acquire TRACKX vehicles together with support arrangements and has signed a letter of intent with Patria covering possible future serial deliveries. Sweden is acquiring vehicles for testing and evaluation. Following delivery, both countries plan to conduct national trials to assess the platform’s suitability for operational use, with some testing expected to be performed jointly.

TRACKX is a tracked armored personnel carrier developed under the multinational FAMOUS program, which is co-funded by the European Defence Fund. Patria says the vehicle combines ballistic protection and road mobility with the ability to operate across soft terrain including deep snow, marshes, and sand. The procurement follows a June 2026 implementation arrangement between the Finnish Defence Forces and Swedish Defence Materiel Administration covering cooperation on the initial acquisition and testing effort.
