Anyone have the actual text of the proposal?

Edit: Looking at his website it doesn’t look like anything other than a press release of what he intends to author. I’d be interested if someone has the text.

  2. It would be a lot quicker if Biden uses his newfound powers and “cordially invites” *several* of the justices to a weekend trip down to Guantanamo bay to have a “quick workshop” about their decision.

“I don’t want these powers for me, or any future president, so what you’re going to do next is reconsider your opinion. I’m going back to DC, you guys stay here, think it over, enjoy the amenities for the next couple days, stay as long as you need to come up with a more rational opinion, and once you do, I’ll have my guys come pick you up.”

P.s.- in my official capacity, you all have been declared enemies of the state while we work this thing out.

  3. given the process to ratify amendments, this is dead on arrival. our only hope is to stack the court

How do you demonstrate you’re truly stupid without actually saying it? I hear he’s also hosting a snowman contest on the fourth of July…

  5. House Republicans will never pass it because they want Trump to win and become a dictator. Even if Trump loses, they know Biden and other Dems won’t abuse the Presidency, so they’ll wait until one of their guys finally win to take ivermectin the country

Purely symbolic and has no chance of actually passing. But hey we’re trying

  7. It’d be like the Myth of Sisiyphus. Expansion of the Supreme Court is much more easily accomplished and could reverse Robert’s rulings.

Presidential immunity is the most crooked thing the Supreme courts ever done. It was the only way to keep Trump out of jail, they’ll reverse the decision someday when trumps dead.

Ah, yes. Famously quick and easy process. We’ll have this in place before the next wannabe dictator gets elected, right? Right?

Do they have the votes for such an amendment to go into effect ’till January 20 2025? No? Then shut it.

America is literally four months away from its own January 30 1933 and these guys still talk about going down the high road and sticking to the rules Republicans give no fuck about anymore. That Amendment idea is akin to Germans wanting to stop Hitler on August 1 1934 (*when he formally became the Fuhrer of Germany*) by suing him at a lower rural court somewhere in Saxony or whatnot.

Extraordinary times require extraordinary questions. Their Heritage Foundation guy is already talking about blood and they’ve surely got their purge lists ready.

Okay? Kucinich read 35 articles of impeachment against W in the House and it was fun to watch and all but clearly went nowhere, just like this will. Insane these people get paid like 170k for political theater.

It’s so wild to me that Democrats still haven’t come to terms that the game has changed.

Politics shifted after Trump and the “ho-hum herr-derrr” of playing by the rules, when the rules are fundamental broken, is going to be the bane of this country.

The rules are broken. USE the opportunity to re-establish them stronger than ever.

I think those energy will be better spent on putting term limits to those SCOTUS judges, it doesn’t have to be max 8 years/ 2 term like US President but some definite end to their “reign” instead of lifetime!

  14. This same immunity is what keeps Obama and Biden from being charged with murder because of their drone strikes that accidentally killed civilians.

It’s just performative. A pipe dream. Meant to make you feel cozy that they’ve “got this,” but they don’t.

  16. >While the constitutional amendment process would likely **take years**, and in fact may never come to fruition, supporters believe it is the most surefire way, even beyond a new law, to enshrine the norm that presidents can face consequences for their actions.

Don’t worry, we’re working on an amendment that would restore equality under the laws, you just need to wait while we line up our ducks.
