The OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center announced in a news release the arrival of the Intuitive da Vinci 5 surgical system, the latest advancement in robotic-assisted surgical technology, designed to enhance minimally invasive care for patients.
“This investment reflects our commitment to bringing advanced technology and exceptional care closer to home for the communities we serve,” OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center President Dawn Trompeter said in the release. “The da Vinci 5 allows our surgical teams to continue offering innovative treatment options that can help patients experience shorter hospital stays, less pain and faster recoveries.”
The da Vinci 5 is Intuitive’s most recent integrated robotic surgery platform, developed to help surgeons deliver greater precision while supporting improved patient outcomes, surgical efficiency and actionable insights.
For many patients, minimally invasive surgery might result in smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, and a quicker return to daily activities, Trompeter said in the release.
The robotic system features enhanced visualization, greater computing power and advanced instrumentation aimed at supporting surgeons throughout complex procedures such as gynecology, general surgery, and urology.
