Speaker of the Parliament H.E. Shalva Papuashvili met with the delegation of the Georgia Friendship Group operating in the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.

    The meeting emphasized the long-standing friendly relations between Georgia and Belarus.

    The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, including in the areas of trade and economy, agriculture, tourism, and culture.

    The Belarusian side noted that the Georgian cultural festival “Tbilisoba in Minsk” will be held in Belarus on 3 October. The festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year.

    The importance of parliamentary diplomacy for the further development of bilateral relations was emphasized at the meeting. The parties expressed their readiness to further deepen ties between the parliamentary friendship groups and sectoral committees.

    The delegation of the Georgia Friendship Group will participate in a conference scheduled to be held in Tbilisi dedicated to the 1,700th anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity as the state religion in Georgia.

    The meeting was also attended by Irakli Kadagishvili, Head of the Georgia-Belarus Friendship Group.
