Emporians for Progress will host author Heath Jeppson, author of The Cloud Has Hit the Ground, for a special Eggs & Issues community discussion on Saturday, October 10 at 8:30 a.m. at the Sauder Alumni Center at Emporia State University.
As part of the event, the first 50 attendees will receive a complimentary copy of Jeppson’s book, The Cloud Has Hit the Ground.
The event will focus on one of the most significant economic development topics facing communities across the country: the rapid growth of data centers and the physical infrastructure behind the digital economy.
Jeppson will discuss the expansion of data centers, what is driving unprecedented demand for digital infrastructure, and what these projects can mean for the communities where they are developed.
The conversation will explore economic development, jobs and workforce, infrastructure investment, utilities, tax base, real estate, community growth, and the opportunities and challenges associated with data center development.
With data center development at the center of an important community conversation in Emporia, the event is designed to provide residents an opportunity to learn more about the industry, hear an outside perspective, and ask questions directly.
Ample time will be dedicated to an open question-and-answer session, allowing community members to ask Jeppson questions about data centers, economic development, community impacts, and the future of the industry.
