Robinhood is giving AI agents more agency inside its brokerage. At its HOOD Summit on September 29, the firm introduced Robinhood Agents. Customers can build AI agents inside the app that can research markets, develop strategies, and execute trades. They can do so by choosing an AI model, giving the agent instructions and limits, and funding it through a dedicated agentic trading account. This means the model can take a goal and work through the steps needed to pursue it, rather than requiring the investor to prompt it at every stage. Manual trade approval is on by default, though users can change the setting to automate their strategies.

    The behavior came first

Robinhood’s September launch came as the second act of an experiment that began in May this year. The company first opened its trading infrastructure to third-party AI agents, letting customers connect software they had built elsewhere. By the end of September, more than 150,000 customers had opened agentic trading accounts, and those agents were using Robinhood’s tools almost 30 million times a day. Robinhood Agents brings that behavior in-house, turning an experiment with outside agents into a product Robinhood can shape itself.

Its upcoming “Loops” feature will let customers turn a strategy into a standing instruction that an agent can run repeatedly, while Agent Apps will bring specialized data from providers including Nasdaq, Unusual Whales, SpotGamma, and Token Terminal into the same workflow. The company is essentially building more infrastructure around agentic investing, giving the software more data to work with, more ways to act on it, and more room to operate without the customer having to initiate every step.

This puts research, data, strategy, and execution closer together inside the brokerage. The customer sets the objective and boundaries, while the software handles more of the monitoring and routine work in between. Instead of constantly scanning charts, reading headlines, and deciding when to press “buy,” customers can increasingly set the rules and let an agent watch the market for them.

Robinhood’s target customer here is fairly clear
