From freshly made pasta and Roman-style pizza to wood-fired steaks and gelato, the highly anticipated Italian food hall from the team behind Zucca opens at The Plaza Coral Gables.

After months of anticipation, Coral Gables is finally getting its very own slice of Italy.

Zuccaly, the sprawling 8,000-square-foot Italian food hall from Da Silva Hospitality Group, opens Thursday, October 8, at The Plaza Coral Gables. The opening brings six culinary stations, an Italian market and a full bar under one roof, offering everything from a quick slice of pizza to a leisurely dinner with friends.

There’s an Italian pantry and grab-and-go destination stocked with prepared dishes, sauces, specialty products, and ingredients to bring a little Italy home.

The project comes from Erasmo da Silva, the restaurateur behind Coral Gables favorite Zucca and the recently revived Hereford Grill.

Unlike Zucca’s more traditional fine-dining experience, Zuccaly leans into the casual, lively atmosphere of an Italian piazza, where guests can explore different food stations, share dishes, and linger over an aperitivo.

    Opening weekend details

Zuccaly kicks off its soft opening Thursday, October 8, with a limited schedule as the food hall begins welcoming guests to The Plaza Coral Gables.

According to its Instagram, Zuccaly will be open Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m.

The food hall will remain closed Monday and Tuesday during its soft-opening period.

While its website lists regular operating hours of noon to 11 p.m. daily, visitors should follow the temporary soft-opening schedule until the restaurant announces otherwise.

Six stations, one Italian food hall

At Zuccaly, deciding what to eat might be the hardest part.

The Pasta & Risotto station serves freshly made Italian classics, including bucatini cacio e pepe, tagliatelle with beef ragù, creamy mushroom risotto, and lasagna Bolognese. At LaBiga, the pizza dough undergoes a six-day preparation process before becoming Roman-style pizza, served alongside traditional pies and focaccia.

For something heartier, the Grill & Fish station specializes in meats and seafood prepared over an open flame, including a 15-ounce grilled ribeye. Il Giardino offers a lighter selection of salads, antipasti, and Italian specialties, while Dolci & Gelato handles dessert with house-made gelato, pastries, and sweets like the chocolate-layered Matilda cake.

A sandwich station will also be available for those wanting something on the go for lunch.

An Italian market and a wine bar

Then there’s PortaVia Gastro Market, an Italian pantry and grab-and-go destination stocked with prepared dishes, sauces, specialty products, and ingredients to bring a little Italy home.

Naturally, there’s a bar, too. Italian wines, classic Negronis, spritzes, and other cocktails round out the experience, with weekday aperitivo specials planned.

For Coral Gables diners, the long-awaited arrival means one thing: Whether it’s pasta, pizza, a glass of wine, or just a scoop of gelato, there’s finally an entire Italian food hall dedicated to the occasion.
