WALHALLA, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The city of Walhalla said businesses impacted by the fire in September now have access to the Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loans.

On Sept. 17, businesses on the block along Highway 28 between Catherine and Tugaloo streets were devastated by an early morning fire. Some buildings are believed to have been more than 100 years old, according to officials.

The city said it was notified Friday that the SBA accepted Governor Henry McMaster’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan Declaration, allowing businesses affected by the disastrous fire in Walhalla to access low-interest SBA loans through the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program.

“We are extremely grateful to Senator Thomas Alexander and Governor Henry McMaster for their work in helping our City and its businesses recover. We are grateful for their quick action and commitment to the City of Walhalla,” said Walhalla Mayor Tim Hall.
