Initiatives aimed at enhancing climate resilience, increasing the adoption of renewable energy, and creating local economic opportunities are being implemented in Bogale and Mawlamyinekyun townships of Ayeyawady Region with support from Switzerland.
Representatives of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) visited the two townships in September to assess progress on Switzerland-supported projects.
During the visit, the delegation focused on evaluating the implementation of the CRCI and RBF+ projects, which aim to strengthen climate resilience and promote local community development. The projects cover climate-smart agricultural practices, renewable energy promotion, systematic waste management, and local business development.
In addition, SDC representatives met with project implementation partners, local residents, and entrepreneurs to discuss the benefits achieved, challenges encountered, and practical lessons learned through the projects. Field observations indicated positive results from climate-smart agricultural practices, while investments under the RBF+ project have benefited both local businesses and the environment.
Although progress has been made under the CRCI project, continued attention is needed to ensure high-quality implementation and long-term sustainability. Switzerland will continue to support local communities in collaboration with partner organizations. — ASH/TH
