Ukrainian heavy attack drone has rammed and destroyed russian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle while carrying out a different mission, according to Ukraine’s 100th Brigade. The unit described the incident as unprecedented during the russo-Ukrainian war.

The brigade reported the incident on Monday, October 12. The video shows the drone engaging russian UAV during flight.

According to the Ukrainian military, the drone involved was the Vampire heavy bomber, operated by one of the brigade’s units. The aircraft was carrying out its primary mission when its crew spotted russian fixed-wing drone flying nearby.

The operator then decided to attempt an unusual interception. Rather than abandoning the mission or using a dedicated weapon, the operator maneuvered the heavy drone toward russian aircraft to ram it.

The brigade described the maneuver as a deliberate attempt to strike the enemy drone through direct physical contact, comparing it to a shoulder-to-shoulder collision in hockey.

The collision apparently succeeded, bringing down the UAV. According to the brigade, the wreckage of the destroyed aircraft subsequently burned in a field.
