The International Risk Forum, initiated by ABB Bank, was held in
Baku with the partnership support of Mastercard. The forum brought
together representatives of regulatory authorities, financial
sector executives, local and international risk management
professionals, as well as global experts. The event was attended by

of Azerbaijan; Zakir Nuriyev, President of the Azerbaijan Banks
Association; and Deyanat Sadullayev, Deputy Chief Executive Officer

In his remarks, Abbas Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Management
Board of ABB Bank, noted that geopolitical uncertainty, economic
volatility, the rapid development of artificial intelligence, and
emerging cyber threats have made today’s business environment
significantly more complex. According to him, these challenges
require a fundamental rethink of traditional approaches to risk
management: “The core idea behind our forum is precisely
this — to move beyond the traditional perception of risk, exchange
international experience, and prepare together for the challenges
    of the future.”

Toghrul Aliyev, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of the
Republic of Azerbaijan, and Zakir Nuriyev, President of the
Azerbaijan Banks Association, also shared their perspectives on the
importance of effective and appropriate risk management in today’s
    environment.

Agshin Amirov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board and Chief
Risk Officer of ABB Bank, delivered a presentation titled
“reTHINKING RISK: From Gatekeepers to Architects”, in which he
discussed the transformation of risk management approaches and
presented new practices being implemented at ABB Bank.

Throughout the forum, local and international experts shared
their perspectives on effective risk management and strengthening
resilience amid global uncertainty and a rapidly changing economic
environment. Participants also discussed the opportunities and
risks associated with artificial intelligence, new approaches to
combating cybercrime and financial fraud, as well as the management
of digital assets and investment risks.

Particular attention was given to the future of the risk
management function in the banking sector, the safe adoption of
innovative technologies, the role of risk management in strategic
decision-making, and mechanisms for responding swiftly to emerging
    risks.
