Editor of the Slavija info portal Ljubomir Stefanović he requested asylum in Montenegro, where he went after, according to him, the police surrounded his house in Serbia.

He claims that he is afraid of the actions of domestic judicial and security institutions, while the Serbian police are looking for him on suspicion of causing panic and disorder.

Stefanović told Podgorica’s “Vijesti” that he decided not to turn himself in to the police on Saturday, stating that until then his car had been searched more than 90 times, mostly at border crossings, and that his house had been searched for the second time in the last two years.

According to his claims, the police again confiscated his equipment, caused material damage and sealed the house he inherited from his grandfather. Therefore, as he stated, he is not even sure what the current status of his right to use that facility is.

Stefanović explained that he chose Montenegro because he knows it well and believes that he could receive appropriate protection there, including political asylum. He said that upon his arrival in Podgorica he turned to the police, where, according to him, he was granted a stay with the obligation to be available at the registered address and to have documentation with him.

He claims to have previously reported the BIA’s conduct

As one of the reasons why he does not want to return to Serbia, Stefanović cited the criminal complaint he filed in 2024 against the Security and Information Agency for, as he claims, a kidnapping. According to him, the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office then assessed that his case was not a case of kidnapping.

He also claims that spyware was installed on his phone during that event, which, he stated, he proved with the help of Amnesty International and the SHARE Foundation. He added that the domestic authorities dismissed his allegations as sensationalism, while he did not receive a response to the report for alleged spying.

Stefanović also told “Vijesti” that he received information about possible pressures on the media and individuals before the elections from persons he claims work in the judiciary and the security sector. According to his opinion, the government could try to silence those who would dispute the election result that will be announced.

He presented such claims as his own assessments and information that he claimed to have received from unofficial sources.

The editor of Slavija info also disputed the actions of the Prosecutor’s Office for high-tech crime, stating that he does not agree with the explanation related to alerting the public. He expects that after the elections on October 25, he will be able to present and prove his claims in court.

The police are looking for him because of the election announcement

According to the announcement of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, a search has been launched for Stefanović on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of causing panic and disorder.

The reason is a post on the Slavija info account on the X social network from October 16, 2026, in which it was claimed that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, will shoot citizens on election day. The publication was accompanied by a video with a figure that the prosecution claims is a generic image of fugitive Miloš Medenica.

According to the prosecution, the search was initiated by order of the Special Department for Combating High-Tech Crime, after Stefanović was not found at his home address on October 17.

His claims about the actions of the police, the BIA and the prosecution have not been independently confirmed in this text. At the same time, the basis for the police search, according to available reports, is the suspicion of a criminal offense due to a specific post on a social network.
