The EAEU report also states that member states do not have the right to expel a country from the organization, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told journalists, referring to a report on the suspension of Armenia’s membership in the EAEU.
“Such a possibility exists within the CSTO. Given that the member countries of the EAEU and the CSTO are essentially the same, it is interesting to ask why, for instance, Armenia is not being expelled from the CSTO,” Pashinyan said.
He also remarked, half-jokingly: “This is perhaps the first time in our history that the ‘metropolis’ is not pulling us toward itself; instead, we are being told — albeit indirectly — that they might cast us out.”
According to Pashinyan, such an event has never occurred in the history of the Armenian people, which makes it noteworthy.
“The restrictions imposed on Armenia in the preceding period did not yield the expected results, either economically or politically. This marks the third attempt in the last three years to incite internal political instability in Armenia, as I see forces both within and outside the Republic of Armenia that intend to exploit the current situation to provoke political instability in the country,” Pashinyan stated.
He noted that the matter has no economic component and is purely political.
“The objective is to incite internal political instability in Armenia and establish control over the Armenian state – effectively stripping Armenia of its independence, both de facto and de jure. I am confident that the Armenian state is sufficiently resilient and will overcome this situation as well,” Pashinyan said.
