ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Icelandair will begin operating nonstop flights between Iceland and St. Louis as early as mid-May 2027.
Wednesday morning, First Alert 4 confirmed that travelers can book a nonstop flight between the two cities through its website. One flight is scheduled for May 14, departing St. Louis at 8:45 p.m. on a 6.5-hour flight to Reykjavik, according to Icelandair’s website.
At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Icelandair confirmed that nonstop flights between St. Louis and Iceland would operate up to four times a week from May 14 to October 24. The nonstop flights will be on a Boeing 737Max8.
“We’re very pleased to add St. Louis to our network next summer. St. Louis is an exciting addition, particularly in light of our growing partnership with Southwest Airlines, which will create convenient connections between destinations across North America, Iceland, and Europe. The addition supports the continued development of our route network and strengthens the range of options available to our customers. We look forward to welcoming St. Louis aboard,” said Tomas Ingason, Icelandair’s Chief Commercial Officer.
In addition, on Wednesday, Icelandair announced it is further expanding its partnership with Southwest, the largest carrier at St. Louis Lambert International Airport. The expanded partnership will give flyers of both airlines convenient connections from destinations across North America via St. Louis to Iceland and to Icelandair’s destinations in Europe.
Icelandair is not the first airline to provide service from St. Louis to Iceland. In May of 2018, WOW Air offered flights from St. Louis to Iceland. The flights lasted less than eight months before being suspended. A few months after stopping the service, WOW Air filed for bankruptcy and ceased all operations.
The announcement of Icelandair flights comes less than a month after British Airways announced it would be expanding St. Louis-to-London service with daily flights starting in the Summer of 2027.
