MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Musicians spent the last day of Marquette Fringe singing and sharing what’s important to them. Ishpeming resident Brian Wallen performed “Swamp Suite” at the Ore Dock Brewing Co. on Saturday.
His collection of songs shared his love for Michigan’s wetlands and the wildlife that thrives there. The festival is a space for interesting and creative concepts. So, he says it was a perfect opportunity to get people interested in wetland conservation.
“They are a carbon sink, so they help to lower the temperature of the globe,” he said. “They filter the water so that clean drinking water is more accessible, and they’re also, of course, a habitat for so many important species.”
Wallen encourages you to slow down, listen to music and find a wetland near you.
