Travel Retail Norway (TRN), the joint venture between Gebr. Heinemann and Norse-Trade, has secured a new contract to operate duty-free and single price shops at four major Norwegian airports.

Norwegian airport operator Avinor announced the tender decision today (29 October), confirming that TRN will continue operating under the Tax Free Norway brand at Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim Airports from 2028 to 2036.

The successful bid builds on more than 20 years of collaboration between Gebr. Heinemann and its Norwegian partner, with the companies jointly developing a new retail concept for the next contract period.

As part of the plans, a new 3,300 sqm departures shop will be introduced at Oslo Airport, while the existing 4,000 sqm arrivals store will remain a flagship location and Norway‘s largest single shop.

Gebr. Heinemann Chief Sales Officer Florian Seidel said: “This tender win is a major success and the result of a close and trusted partnership spanning more than 20 years. The strong team effort resulted in a bid that will add value for the airport as well as for travellers to and from Norway.

“It is once again a testimony to the strength of partnerships that combine local and global expertise. We thank Avinor for placing their trust in us and for their commitment to continuing our long-term partnership as equals. Together with our partners we are looking forward to writing the next chapter in Norway.”

The new contract will see TRN introduce its updated retail concept across the four airports, with work on implementing the plans set to begin immediately.

TRN Managing Director Tore Hov added: “We were confident that we had submitted a very strong, future-ready bid that included an innovative retail concept. Therefore, we are all the more delighted that it won Avinor over and that we can continue our partnership also beyond 2028. Everyone across the team is excited to bring the new concepts to life. We will start working on the realisation as of today.”

The tender win extends Gebr. Heinemann‘s presence in Norway through its long-standing partnership with Norse-Trade, securing the joint venture’s retail operations at the four airports for a further eight years.
