Albania updates telecom consumer protection, greenlights D2D trial

Albania’s Authority for Electronic and Postal Communications (AKEP) approved broad regulatory updates designed to protect mobile consumers and authorised a trial of satellite-based mobile technology, Ata reported. Starting 1 January 2027, the new regulations will ban automatic contract price hikes tied to undefined variables and mandate key consumer protections such as a 12-month minimum SIM validity, at least 180-day monetary credit validity, smaller top-up options, full refunds of unused balances upon num
