Where will you have your Thanksgiving feast?

If the thought of hosting, cleaning the house and roasting the turkey – not to mention coming up with a bevy of side dishes – overwhelms you, consider letting someone else do all the cooking, whether it be takeout or dining in at one of the restaurants that will be open Thanksgiving Day.

    Here are some delicious ideas.

    • Order now from Main Street Meats’ menu. It includes a selection of fresh, smoked or brined turkeys, as well as a variety of sides such as mashed potatoes, gravy, mac and cheese, and collard greens, plus Main Street Meats’ yummy bacon cornbread dressing. And for dessert? What about a chocolate cola cake with peanut butter frosting? All are perfect for Thanksgiving. The deadline to order is Thursday, Nov. 19. Call the restaurant at 423-602-9568 or email cl@mainstreetmeatschatt.com.
    • Acropolis Mediterranean Grill is now accepting orders for Thanksgiving takeout. Choose from turkey dinners that can feed groups of five to 20. In addition to roasted turkey, you’ll find spiral hams, gravy, traditional sides and nontraditional Thanksgiving desserts on the menu. Orders must be placed no later than Friday, Nov. 20, with pickups scheduled for Nov. 24 and 25. Place orders at 423-899-5341.
    • For a new twist on Thanksgiving, take a drive up Lookout Mountain to McLemore Resort and feast on selections from Auld Alliance’s menu or choose one of the chef-crafted holiday specials. Parties of one to four people can book a table at opentable.com. Larger parties need to call the restaurant directly from 1-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 706-398-5217.
    • Nomia Modern Kitchen will serve a special Thanksgiving dinner menu. Check it out at nomiakitchen.com.
    • Bridgeman’s Chophouse at the Read House will serve a special Thanksgiving menu with all the trimmings. For reservations, call 423-643-1240 or book online at bridgemanschophouse.com.
    • Whitebird at The Edwin Hotel will have a Thanksgiving menu. For reservations, visit marriott.com and follow the links to The Edwin, then on to “book a table.”
    • Book on opentable.com for Thanksgiving at Forge at The Chattanoogan Hotel, where a special Turkey Day menu will be offered.
    • Ruth’s Chris’ famous sweet potato casserole will be on a prix fixe, three-course menu on Thanksgiving, as will turkey with all the trimmings. For information or reservations, visit ruthschris.net.
    • If you don’t want to gobble turkey, Outback Steakhouse is offering a Thanksgiving special of $50 off on a $250 order. Not a bad deal if steak, salmon, Alice Springs chicken or Bloomin’ Onions are what you’re thankful for this year. Check out the catering menu at outback.com. Orders must be placed at least four hours ahead of pickup and picked up no later than closing time Wednesday, Nov. 25.

If you know of other restaurants open for Thanksgiving, let me know and I’ll be happy to include them in next week’s Side Orders!
