As a police officer I honestly can’t see how anyone can get offended by this? Been called so much worse!! And weren’t offended then either!

Good show of strength from our law enforcement, this. “My feelings are hurt.” Fs.

Maybe the police should try to actually change public opinion instead of just wailing about it

Any police officer getting offended by this is as the name of the show suggests.
If your job is to serve the public then you’re not protected from scrutiny by the public

How to spot someone not actually offended or over egging how insulted they feel. From the article,
>Tiffany Lynch, acting national chair of the Police Federation of England and Wales, which represents more than 145,000 rank and file officers, said the title “is highly offensive to police officers risking their lives to protect the public every day providing an emergency service”.
>”It is a disgusting choice of language to use for the title of a TV programme,” Ms Lynch said.
>”I find it incredulous that this has passed through checks and balances at an organisation made up of people who at any time have or may need the support and assistance of the police.”
>”Insulting” officers who are currently under “relentless negative pressure” is “unhelpful”, she added.
>Ms Lynch said the show’s name was “inflammatory against a landscape of rising threats and violence against officers”.
>”We should not be put at further risk for viewing numbers, our officers deserve respect, not humiliation for the job they are undertaking,” she added.
>”It is incredibly dangerous to incite more negativity and misinformation against a public sector service that’s already under so much pressure.”
May I humbly suggest to Deputy National Chair Tiffany Lynch and Mukund Krishna, chief executive of the Police Federation who is also disgusted by a comedy, that they focus on improving the police service so the public returns to looking on them favourably.
You know by ensuring officers act appropriately and don’t use their position of power to gain an advantage over members of the public, like some officers having sex with vulnerable witnesses and victims of crime. How about also focussing on clearing out the dregs and criminals from the ranks. You know, those we’ve seen commit horrendous acts while being an officer. How about you act professionally in response to criticism, jokes, etc. rather than throwing such a hissy fit about a fucking ITV comedy.
Don’t get me wrong, policing is a tough job and a large proportion of officers are decent, hard working individuals who we rely upon at times of need, but these two complaining do those officers no favours in how they’re overreacting.

A little less whinging and a little more policing please

They were going to call it “Fucking Pigs” but they were worried people might think it was a documentary about David Cameron.
They themselves are apparently allowed to use the absolute vilest and demeaning gallows type humour about the victims and criminals they deal with but they can’t handle a stupid joke? Get a grip lads.

You’re not going to improve the public’s view of the police by acting so upset over a comedy show.
It ain’t the fault of comedians that police have a bad reputation at the moment.

You know, if I was a policeman (God forbid!) and was actually a good and helpful one, then I wouldn’t be offended, since I do not fit into the definition of a “pig”.
If someone gets offended by it, then perhaps they are mad about getting called out for what they really are?
You know, with how police ranges from utterly useless to sadistic power-tripping raging douchebags, I suppose it’s only natural they get offended for calling them what they are. Truth hurts.

I’ve done plenty of work in PR, albeit in the music industry, but I would bet my yearly income that this is mostly a PR stunt.
While possibly not entirely manufactured, someone has been told to keep an eye out for _any_ slight criticism of the title, and then use it to generate a news story. Which would be easy because while likely not paid for (a lot of commercial articles like this are btw, and laws about declaring paid partnerships are widely ignored or bent) it’s a win win because it’s a click worthy story.

Oh get a sense of humour, being part of the police is not a protected category
Might give it a watch, never heard of it until this
What are the chances that’s actually what the regular coppers call trainees.
I can only assume that the person who criticised this show cried wee wee wee all the way home.
Oink oink miserable bastards.
Far more pressing matters for the police to be worrying about anyway.
For starters, stop hiring all the rapists/murderers and pedos that they seem to employ and that I keep seeing almost weekly articles about.
Bellends.
No plans to watch. I might smirk at the occasional joke on us, but I’m sure some of it will be annoying because it’ll be used against us as hilarious.
The police federation soon to be learning the Strisland effect!
If it makes the police feel any better, ITV made comedies are terrible.
I agree, appalling comparison for an intelligent, beautiful creature admired by so many.
What a disgusting thing to call a show about police.
I’ve never heard of this nickname before [honest](https://youtu.be/2B2JX6SHPN0?si=MirJ7221gtT51kWb) skip to 3:30ish
