    1. Interesting to see Farage’s comments blaming the Democrats.

I wonder in the age of AI if it will be easier to start visualising things like stochastic terrorism. Like, let’s put in all the public statements of every Democrat politician vs every Republican politician and get an idea of who has promoted violence more.

There’s already a conspiracy theory going round that it was a false flag to give Trump a bump in the polls.

    3. Any attack on any person is wrong and any attack on any politician is awful news for any democracy.
That said, maybe the likely future POTUS should take the hint and rethink his extremely pro-guns stance…

Trump is a dangerous moron, but lets still agree that you don’t shoot political opponents, you debate them.

    5. ElvishMystical on

I don’t see what’s so shocking. Americans love guns, violence and shooting each other.

Nigel “no shots fired after an MP gets shot” Farage blaming liberals for the crimes of a Republican.

I suspect there woll be a move by many politicians to bump up spending on their security.

Hard to have any sympathy with all the threats and violent rhetoric he spouts. If you’re going to foster extremism you can’t be surprised when it comes for you.

Remember we’ve had two MPs murdered in the past 10 years, whether you agree with their political views or not you end a politicians career at the ballot box not with a bullet. That’s why even throwing milkshakes on people shouldn’t be supported because one persons milkshake is another persons knife and people running for public office shouldn’t be threatened with violence.

Makes you so glad you live in the UK, as much of a clown show our political situation is, we’re very lucky we have the system and politicians we do. Sunak resigned from his post, admitted failure and said his party failed, the debates were professional etc etc there was no calls of foul play, russian interference or stolen elections or people trying to storm the house of commons.

This is absolutely inexcusable, and Joe Biden did the right thing by condemning it, but I can’t help think that had it been Biden who was shot, Trump would say something like “Well he upset a lot of people. These things happen.”

    12. IndelibleIguana on

What’s shocking about Americans thinking they can solve problems by shooting people?

    13. Away-Activity-469 on

I’m not shocked, I’m disappointed. America has a long history of political assassinations. It could be argued that it reflects normal functioning democracy there. I don’t think there is any democratic country with more heads of state shot at/killed. To come out all po faced pretending you wouldn’t be glad to see the back of Trump is disingenuous.

I’m surprised that it didn’t happen soon. An attempt on a presidential candiate because of er… of the stuff that has been said over there and american politics are rather mean.

      Hopefully, it won’t happen again.

    15. I don’t know why anyone’s shocked, that place is so polarised right now, people calling for violence against the candidate on the other side and riots in the White House.

    16. cybercosmonaut on

It’s America, the world’s most dangerous circus. Nothing surprising here.

There should have been more people with guns there to prevent it. Upon entry, everyone in attendance should have been handed a firearm.

    18. That picture of him with his fist raised high is going to get memed to hell and back. Allmight (MHA) comparisons are already around.

    19. As someone who hasn’t been much of a fan of Farrage or Trump, I can’t help but feel absolutely disgusted by who i considered we’re my peers as the opposition to be honest.

Apart from the sheer amount of people who think the Man who was shot dead infront of his family was somewhat involved in this “staged” event absolutely turns my stomach and makes me feel absolutely embarrased.

Not only that, but the comments from people who are supposed to be the “sane” side of society on the left suggesting its a shame the shooter was killed so quickly, or that they wish he had hit him. People saying things like its a shame acid wasn’t used when people threw things at Farrage. You are literally the modern day equalivent of the type of solider in WW2 that would act out nazi’s orders so willingly.

You may not agree with someone’s politics, but to say some of the things you are saying, you are actually doing more to hurt your own political side.

Its a sad day when 2 people get killed, a man almost gets murdered doing what he believes is right even when the shit he says at times is bat shit insane. And in the process you make THEM look like the sane ones.

When the world leaders stand up over the next few days and say how violence has no place in our society, and we need to unite together YOU are their target audience, you don’t have to hold or shoot a gun, but simply suggesting online that murder is fine as long as you share a different opinion to them, you are literally no better.

Shame on you all, If you spout that kind of shit, I personally don’t want you taking any moral high ground either. Your just the left extreem, no different to the right extreem.

Whilst there was shock nobody was surprised. We think we have had it bad politically in the UK but the US is a total shit show. You can either vote for a demented pensioner or a demented fascist pensioner.

Anytime a career politician experiences violence its a good thing for normal people, that about right?
