I wonder if any bolt on to failing to the failing to stop offence will come if this.

Failing to stop after knowingly done serious harm carrying a higher sentencing guideline perhaps? Similar to GBH and GBH with intent.

So if you are driving illegally (without insurance) and under the influence of drugs, kill someone and claim that you didn’t stop because you panicked then that means you avoid prison? Fucking ridiculous.

    3. 14 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.

That’s what the childs life was worth.

      14 weeks for killing someone.

This country is far too soft on people who kill with cars.

Especially people driving on the roads **illegally**. (No insurance, quite possibly under the influence, having admitted to smoking canabis earlier the same day).

It’s cowardly as fuck and I don’t support the sentence, but the major “mitigation” seems to be that fundamentally he wasn’t at fault.

We don’t generally send people to prison for no insurance, and failure to stop is also a surprisingly minor offence (I don’t think it should be).

I think, ultimately, it has to be viewed in that context. Sickening though

    5. Honestly these sentences could be 7 years or 12 weeks suspended, you never fucking know

That is disgraceful and insulting. Kill someone with a car? Tap on the wrist. Protest? HOW FUCKING DARE YOU! Or not have a TV license, somehow get tricked into getting dragged to court? FINE AND PUNISHMENT!

But to be fair, the kid did run into the road. Still doesn’t excuse the driver for leaving him for dead.

    7. We will never know why ran away. Perhaps he was ‘under the influence’ and wanted to wait till the effects to pass and remain undetectable, in which case he has escaped a more serious charge.
