A rape crisis centre boss quietly removed someone who actively espoused views that meant they would refuse care to certain people?

Honestly? Sounds like she was doing her job.

This article is disgustingly transphobic from the first paragraph.

This should be normal when a manager gets hauled that badly over the coals by a tribunal for what was clearly held to be illegal behaviour. It was one of the more damning tribunal judgements.

I’m not sure why she’s only placed on leave. How is getting caught out behaving that badly anything other than gross misconduct?

There’s a simple way to put this without fanning the flames of the political culture war against trans people:

This particular boss put their agenda above an egregious safeguarding problem (a sexual predator and domestic abuser using the centre she was in charge of to find new victims), and further placed themselves in an unfavourable light with their comments in public and what seems like a hostile working environment under them.

Reading between the lines, if your response to finding out about this person sexually assaulting other victims in your crisis centre is to *check notes* go after the counsellors sympathetic to the fears of the women they’re speaking to, and not to, you know, resign over a colossal fuck up… then I don’t know what else to say.

Seems like a real piece of work by all accounts.

Finally, some clear and sensible reporting from the off.

Also, fantastic decision, seems like common sense is coming back on the menu.

Ok I know she’s a PoS but really?

    6. I wish papers could report stories about trans people without being intentionally transphobic to fan the flames of the culture war. Mridul may have abused her position but why call her “a man who identifies as a woman”. Why focus on her trans identity at all. She’s abused her power to fire an employee for spurious reasons. Her gender identity is irrelevant.

    7. There’s a reason why people raise eyebrows at trans women running rape centres. What a mess.
