    1. Is this a general e bike problem or is it people buying cheap knock offs for 1/3 of the price of a normal retail price and then this happens?

My work has banned storing these and scooters inside buildings. Mainly as they are untested electrical items which are banned anyway. Even personal phone chargers are banned due to potential risks from damaged cables.

Letting other countries have monopolies on production of batteries and then doing precisely zero regulatory work to ensure their safety was always… questionable.

    4. It’s almost like these are already somewhat illegal anyway – they can’t be ridden on pavements ever, and can only be ridden if you have a valid full driving licence and relevant insurance. Tired of me and my dog being run over by these stupid things. Get a proper bike and do some actual exercise.

    5. We realy should have some regulation in this and maybe some subsidiary for verifyied good manufacturers as the cheap temu spec ones are what’s causing the fires

    6. As a vaper who uses the same batteries it is very important to make sure you make sure the battery is of sound quality and has proper circuit protection.

I would hazard a guess I bet most of these exploding bikes are cheap Chinese crap with rewrapped 21700 batteries (ie batteries that manufacturers make that don’t make the grade and are sold on to others that rewrap them and lie about what discharge load they can handle)
