A nice good news story. Fact is the farmland we see all around us in the UK isn’t “natural” land at all.
Modern farming is heavily industrialised land use.
The soil and weeds are routinely shredded by machinery.
The land is covered in insecticide which is poisonous to thousands of native flying insects including bees.
The water is polluted by nitrates from the fertiliser which runs off into the stream and makes it’s way into our rivers, causing algal blooms that suffocate our native fish stocks.
It’s good to see more “natural” reservoirs to allow our native fauna and fauna some space to recover.

Some people might enjoy a trip to r/rewildingUK and the good news is that there is a lot of rewilding happening on big and small scales all over the country

Very happy to see another farmer rewilding, UK nature is in a terrible state and needs fixing on a country wide scale.
I think the government needs to consider paying farmers to partially rewild their land, they already subside much of UK farming anyway.

I know that the Rory Stewart types should be getting excited at the prospect of rewilding.
