Data isn’t ever collected for any reason other than to be analysed and used against you

The Murdaugh Murders podcast is a good eye-opener on how much data your car collects.

I suspect insurers will gradually insist that more and more people install black box tracking devices in their car which will make having every journey recorded by a third party completely normalised.
You already can’t drive anywhere on the smart motorway near me without having your license plate logged every 2 minutes by a camera on a gantry.
And as I drive past all the Zoom cameras on people’s houses with the dash cams on the cars I wonder how many abused wives are having their entire lives logged and scrutinised by abusive husbands. Domestic violence against women by male partners is already the most common UK crime by far.
The curtain twitching people of Britain will continue to clap on the steady erosion of their privacy…

It’s a bit of a non story be honest, what were they expecting? The police/NCA to disclose all their investigative tools to the public? They should really be reporting on why car companies are collecting all the data in the first place.
