It’s the same in many countries… Even the ones not friendly to Russia.
Here in Latvia also export to all the “….stans” are up unbelievable numbers since the beginning of 2022.
Greed is bitch 🤨
With things like this going on sanctions are essentially meaningless. Hard evidence needs to be collected about the ‘stans helping Russia to beat sanctions. Then enormous diplomatic pressure needs to be applied to put a lid on this. Maybe even economic incentives to the ‘stans to not help Russia – more carrots and less sticks?
Hungary is….
The direct sanctions clearly strangle russia. Time to impose punishment on companies anywhere – not just Hungary – still selling to russia.
And tighten the noose some more.
To be honest with our global economy it is probably impossible to isolate a country fully. I may be incorrect. But I think the main point of sanctions, excluding weapons components, is not to try to completely prevent the export. But make the Russian regime pay more for it.
So in one way our companies/economy don’t suffer. But theirs do.
