Malta’s next representative in Eurovision will be decided through Mesc 2025, the country’s National Final.
As already known, MESC will be held on February 4-6-8, 2025 by PBS, through two semi-finals and the Grand Final. Last week, the names of the 24 participants of the competition and the titles of their songs were released.
However, PBS – the Maltese official broadcast- announced the disqualification of Alexandra Alden‘s participation “Magnolia” from MESC 2025. This happened because, according to the station’s announcement, the song had been released earlier than the scheduled date. In more detail, PBS claims that the process is fair and transparent for all participants and honors the audience and artists of all partnerships.
The format of MESC 2025
MESC 2025 will consist of two semi-finals and of course the Grand Final. The dates have been set as follows:
First Semi-Final: February 4, 2025
Second Semi-Final: February 6, 2025
Grand Final: February 8, 2025
The 23 (?) finalists will compete in the two semi-finals, aiming to win a place in the Grand Final, where it will be decided who will represent Malta at Eurovision 2025.
Specifically, 12 songs will compete in each semi-final and the best eight will qualify for the Final. Thus, 16 songs will compete in the final night of MESC 2025, with the winner determined by a combination of the jury vote and the television audience vote.
This year’s event will feature innovations such as improvements to the stage presence, more interactive features for the audience and the inclusion of a new audience award, which will be awarded to the most favorite artist of each semi-final! Stay tuned for all the news!
