Looking for a place to exercise and socialize your furry friend in Lexington County? Here’s the paw-fect spot.
The Paw Park, which opened in 2014, is located at 989 Hendrix St. in Lexington. Open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., the three-acre park offers a great atmosphere for dogs to play and socialize.
The Paw Park charges annual fees for dogs. For in-town residents, each household is allowed a maximum of three dogs, with each dog requiring registration. The fee for the first dog is $37.22, while each additional dog costs $18.61.
For out-of-town residents, the fee is $62.56 for the first dog and $31.28 for each additional dog. If the registration is purchased less than six months before the end of the calendar year, the cost is reduced by half.
To make sure everyone—both humans and dogs—has a great time, the Paw Park has rules. They’re designed to keep the park safe and enjoyable for all:
- Only spayed and neutered dogs are allowed, and owners must provide proof of this.
- All dogs must be up to date on rabies and other vaccines, with documentation provided.
- Dogs must be supervised at all times and owners are responsible for their dogs’ behaviors. Aggressive dogs will be removed from the park.
- Puppies younger than four months are not allowed.
- Dogs must be off leash but under voice control at all times and must wear a collar with the appropriate tags.
- Dogs are not permitted to chase humans or other dogs.
- Sick dogs are not allowed, and only training treats are permitted in the park.
- Only registered dogs and their owners, who must be 18 or older, are allowed in the park. Children under 10 are not permitted.
- Outside the park, all dogs must remain on a leash. The park also prohibits glass containers, human food, smoking or digging. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dog.
Applicants will be given a special dog tag and combination to enter the park and open the gate.
