    Rosa “Rosie” Lea Spain, 61, of Springfield passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, at Mt. Vernon Place Care Center in Mt Vernon. She was born in Monett on Thursday, May 2, 1963; the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Carr) Canady.
    She was a 1981 graduate of Pierce City High School and a 2012 graduate of Missouri State University with a bachelor of science degree in social work.
    She married Wendell Spain on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1981, in Pierce City. Together, they adopted three children who they loved dearly.
    She is survived by her children: Charles Wendell and Maxwell Gene Spain of Springfield and Sheridan Rose Milford and her fiancé, Anthony of Camdenton; five grandchildren; a special niece who helped care for her, Kim Isbell of Springfield; five siblings: Randy Canady of Arizona, Sandy Krumm of Pierce City, Robyn Myers of Crane, Rhonda Singer of Corning, Iowa, and Becky Canady of Freistatt; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wendell; and a brother, Rick Canady.
    A celebration of life was held on Monday, Dec. 23,  at Hamlin Baptist Church in Springfield with Pastor Fraser Armstrong officiating. Graveside services were held at Van Buren Cemetery in Wentworth. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City.
