Are you interested in learning how to make your home more efficient and receive a free energy savings kit? The public is invited to an Energy Literacy workshop at The Dale Association, 33 Ontario St., Lockport, at 10 a.m. Jan. 30. Admission to the workshop is free, too.
Participants will learn how energy is consumed in your home, how energy is wasted, new habits to reduce energy use that can be easily implemented to save on your energy bill, and how to read and understand your utility bill.
From a young age, my parents instilled in me to “turn off the lights when not using them” — and I’m sure many of you reading this have been told the same and/or have told others the same). There are many other ways you can reduce energy use, such as replacing traditional light bulbs with LEDs, ensuring your home is properly insulated, using a timer for decorative lighting, identifying and unplugging so-called vampires, and so much more.
Please call 716-433-1886 to reserve your seat for the Energy Literacy workshop. The Dale Association building is easily accessible and all are welcome. Each attendee will receive a free energy savings kit that includes and advanced power strip with surge protection, two LED light bulbs, a window shrink and seal insulation kit, silicone/rubber weatherstripping, foam tape for windows and doors, a door sweep, five foam outlet gaskets and five foam switch gaskets.
Maureen A. Wendt is president and CEO of The Dale Association, a non-profit organization that provides senior, mental health, in-home care, caregiver support services and enrichment activities for adults. For more information, call 716-433-1886 or visit www.daleassociation.com.
