Defense Minister Nikos Dendias has praised efforts to strengthen ties between Greek and Jewish communities in the United States, during an award ceremony honoring former American Jewish Committee (AJC) CEO David Harris. The event was held at the National Hellenic Museum in Chicago.

Dendias commended Harris for his contributions to combatting antisemitism and fostering Greek-Jewish relations. He highlighted the significant role of the AJC and the Hellenic American Leadership Council (HALC) in promoting mutual understanding and advancing shared goals.

“The contribution of both HALC and the American Jewish Committee to promoting these relations is of the utmost importance. Their shared vision and efforts have created a strong coalition that addresses regional challenges, while promoting stability and defending democratic values,” Dendias said.

The collaboration, he noted, has also bolstered trilateral cooperation between Greece, Israel, and Cyprus, providing a platform for regional stability and security.

Dendias described Greece’s relationship with Israel as “of great importance” and emphasized the country’s strategic partnership with the United States, noting that it is currently at an all-time high. Greece, he said, is a “true ally of the United States” and a “pillar of stability and security in the Eastern Mediterranean.” [AMNA]
