Two weeks before the start of the season, the Texas softball team finalized its 2025 schedule.
The Longhorns, who rank No. 1 in the preseason ESPN/USA Softball poll, will open the season Feb. 7 in Lafayette, La., where they will take on Longwood and Louisiana as part of the Louisiana Classic, hosted by the Ragin’ Cajuns. They will make their home debut Feb. 14-16 in the Bevo Classic at McCombs Field.

Catcher Reese Atwood and the Longhorns will open the season Feb. 7 in a two-game event in Lafayette, La. Texas finalized its nonconference schedule Thursday.
Texas already knew its SEC schedule, which will begin March 15 with a trip to Florida. However, a delay in some game contracts with certain opponents kept UT from releasing its complete nonconference schedule until Thursday, a school official told the American-Statesman.
The Longhorns, who went 55-10 last season and lost to Oklahoma in the June finals of the Women’s College World Series, will face the Sooners as part of their inaugural SEC schedule. Texas will also meet Florida, Auburn, Mississippi State, Missouri, Tennessee, LSU and Kentucky in conference play.
Texas A&M’s absence from the schedule will disappoint both fans and sponsors. The Longhorns beat A&M in a spirited super regional series in Austin last postseason. Coaches and players in both programs expressed excitement about continuing the series on a regular basis as conference rivals.
Also, Cotton Holdings Inc. announced in August that it’s sponsoring the “Cotton Lone Star Showdown,” an annual competition between the schools that tallies points in every sport.
Each SEC program will play eight three-game series for a total of 24 conference games during a nine-week span March 7 through May 3. After the final regular-season weekend, teams from across the SEC will gather in Athens, Ga., for a five-day SEC Tournament at Turner Softball Stadium.
Times for all games will be determined closer to the date of the game.
