As you may have learned A post about Wikipedia’s new restrictions was shared in the country group. Normally, what I would write belongs to one of my comments there. But I turned it into a post to make it more general and informative.

First of all, you should always keep the picture above in this post with you. Make it a phone or computer screen protector. You can either put it on your wall with a frame. If someone uses Wikipedia as a source, always keep this picture in mind.

For those who don’t understand the dialogue, on the deleted talk page of an article, users and the Wiki editor (user named Bilorv at the bottom) are discussing the accuracy of a certain topic.

What is important is what the first user and Bilorv wrote, but if we were to translate it in general.

User 1 – "The consensus is that information is correct, and Wikipedia’s goal is to maintain that consensus. It doesn’t really matter if it’s right or wrong.

User 2 – And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why Wikipedia is considered a joke in academic and STEM faculties around the world. God reveals himself to us, poor and mortal, " No, what you wrote is wrong, correct it!" Even if he says, the average Wikipedia user always uses the classic version "IT’S REAL FOR ME, BE!" he will say.

User 3 – Isn’t this completely brainless logic that would have anyone adding that the Earth is flat to every article and enough morons believe it that they won’t let anyone take it down?

Bilorv (Wiki Editor) – If Wikipedia existed at the time when experts agreed that the world was flat, then we would claim that this view was true. It is difficult to understand how you expect us to surpass the scientific knowledge of the age. For the last 2000-2500 years the consensus of experts has been that the Earth is roughly spherical, which is what we report.

Remember, Wikipedia defends and presents the consensus, not the truth. This is not an implication that you need to personally understand or analyze. This is one of the rules of the site. The first thing written "Consensus is Wikipedia’s main decision-making method."

I think we are all aware of what we read and see due to herd psychology instead of reality, thanks to this kind of mentality.
