Finnish telecom giant Nokia has been chosen to deliver Spain’s first 400G connection for IXP customers. The customer is ESpanix.

The upgrade, which is now operational at all nodes, uses Nokia’s Interconnect routers and Photonic Service Switch to replace previous 100GE connections. The solution reduces complexity and energy consumption for ESpanix’s 180+ connected networks. According to Amedeo Beck Peccoz, Chief Strategy Officer at ESpanix, the upgrade makes the company the most advanced internet hub in southern Europe. No financial details were provided.
