Some fans also took the opportunity to check out ongoing renovations at the stadium ahead of its temporary use as a major league venue for the Athletics.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Hundreds of San Francisco Giants fans gathered at Sutter Health Park despite rainy conditions as the team brought its 2025 Fan Fest tour to West Sacramento. Players and coaches greeted fans, signed autographs, and posed for photos.

“The Giants and beautiful weather,” said Don McCarthy with a laugh, as he stood among the crowd of fans eager to celebrate their team.

For Dana Mitchell, the event was all about one player.

“I hope that I get to see Logan Webb. And I have my very special autographed hat. And I hope that he gets his autograph on my special autograph hat,” she said.

Some fans also took the opportunity to check out ongoing renovations at the stadium ahead of its temporary use as a major league venue. The Athletics are set to play at Sutter Health Park for three seasons while awaiting a permanent move to Las Vegas.

Mitchell said she is looking forward to attending a game with friends.

“Our best friends are from Minnesota, so we’re going to go to the Twins game,” she said. “And they still have the seats out on the lawn, and you can go to a game. Why not?”

Others were less enthusiastic about the A’s relocating to the longtime home of the Sacramento River Cats.

“The River Cats have a home here. And the A’s are temporary. So, yeah,” said fan Ed Marin.

One thing Giants fans agreed on: the upcoming season couldn’t come soon enough.

“We’ve only got two more weeks,” Mitchell said. “Pitchers and catchers are there. It’s time.”

Spring training begins Feb. 22 for both the A’s and the Giants. The River Cats and Giants will face off in an exhibition game at Sutter Health Park on March 23.
