FISHERSVILLE, Va. (WHSV) – Augusta Health has launched its three-year survey to understand what health needs the community needs.

Every three years, per federal guidelines, Augusta Health reaches out to community members and listens to the major health concerns they have. These survey results fuel different programs and projects the hospital orchestrates with community partners.

An example of a project derived from the community survey is the Farm at Augusta Health. In 2018, Augusta Health discovered an immediate need for nutrition and diet services from the community. This prompted discussions and led to the development of the farm.

Krystal Moyers, administrative director of community partnership for the hospital, said public feedback helps the hospital understand its clientele. Health concerns and trends in major cities like Phoenix, AZ, and Seattle, WA, will have different health concerns and needs compared to the Shenandoah Valley. The impact Augusta Health has in the community is directly tied to community feedback.

”Every single survey response matters into the feedback that we are given for the final report to help us understand the needs of the community,” Moyers said. “That report truly drives the priorities we address for the community and the programs we put into place.”

The survey is available for residents of the greater Augusta area. Moyers said a key point of the survey is making it inclusive. The community Augusta Health serves is diverse and different communities have contradicting — or corresponding — health needs.

“We take the results of the survey, but we don’t only take the survey of a large amount of people, we make sure the survey is representative of the community,” Moyers said.

The survey responses are anonymous. Moyers said all the data will be compiled into data tables to help stakeholders and community partners identify problem areas in the SAW area.

Folks living in the SAW area can access the survey form on the Augusta Health website. They also can receive a call from (540) 255-0040 which will have “AUGUSTAHLTH PRC” as the caller ID. Moyers said people who receive this call should know it’s not a scam; it’s the hospital reaching out to hear from its clientele.

The survey will be open until March 24, 2025.
