The Boston Celtics are still top dogs in the NBA until further notice, given what we saw them do to a team at the level of the Eastern Conference-leading Cleveland Cavaliers last week. Sure, it is absolutely fair to point to the stretch of rough play from Thanksgiving to the month of Dec., as well as their tendency to play down to weaker opposing ball clubs (and often to disastrous effects).
But we have also seen this team turn it on when they feel the need to — i.e., against teams they believe are truly on or near their level of a contending squad. The folks behind the “D Flow Hoops” YouTube channel put together a clip diving into this topic not too long ago.
