The Athens Rock Lobsters have promoted Scott Hull to president of the organization, the team announced Monday.

Hull was the first person hired following the announcement of a professional minor league hockey franchise, originally serving as executive vice president. Hull has over a decade of sports management experience, from higher-level minor league hockey teams such as the Rapid City Rush and Greenville Swamp Rabbits, to experience in other sports, like baseball and soccer.

The Rock Lobsters have quickly become one of the FPHL’s most successful franchises under Hull’s leadership. The team boasts a 27-6-2 record, and an average attendance of 3,743 — the third best in the league.

“Scott Hull has that rare ability to demonstrate incredible integrity and leadership, and at the same time do so with a laid-back demeanor,” team owner Barry Cohen said. “He is liked by everybody. We look forward to seeing great things with Scott at the helm of the Rock Lobsters.”

Hull and the rest of the Rock Lobsters team remain committed to success both on and off the ice as Hull takes on this new role. The organization has rapidly become more than just a hockey team, but a unique form of entertainment to the local community — and an integral part of the city.

“Scott has been an invaluable asset to our organization from day one,” Todd Mackin, president of Spire Holdings, said. “His leadership, vision and ability to connect with both our coaching staff, players and our fanbase have helped shape the Rock Lobsters into the team we are today. We are thrilled to see him step into this role, and we have no doubt he will continue to lead us toward even greater success.”
