PHOENIX, Ariz. (WBAY) – Aurora Health Care and the Milwaukee Brewers™ welcomed three Wisconsin-based pediatric patients to American Family Fields of Phoenix Friday for an all-access day.
The children met Brewers players and staff, toured the clubhouse, and practiced on the field with the team.
Warmups included stretches, drills, catching, and batting.
All three patients have experienced health challenges:
9-year-old Natasha Taylor of Green Bay, Wisconsin has Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressive, a rare type of genetic disorder that causes muscle and connective tissue to gradually turn to bone.
8-year-old Blake Baker of Grafton, Wisconsin had an 11-hour surgery to remove a benign brain tumor caused by a rare genetic disease.
9-year-old Tyler Morano of Fredonia, Wisconsin has progressive hearing loss, a type of hearing loss that gets worse over time. He wears hearing aids, and his family is learning American Sign Language.
During Saturday’s Brewers-Reds game, each child will be recognized on the field during pre-game ceremonies, throw out the first pitches, and participate as in-game Junior Announcers.
Aurora Health Care, the official healthcare partner of the Milwaukee Brewers, and the team are sponsoring the group’s all-expenses-paid trip.
