PARKERSBURG — Coplin Health Systems has announced the addition of Dr. Richard E. Cain, M.D., to its team at River Valley Family Care in Ravenswood.
Cain brings to the practice more than 30 years of experience as a primary care physician.
A native of Grantsville, Cain is a 1988 graduate of the Marshall University School of Medicine. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in biology from West Virginia University in Morgantown, and an associate of arts degree in biology from Potomac State College in Keyser. He completed his residency at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, where he served as chief resident from 1990 to 1991.
Cain comes to Coplin Health Systems from the physicians’ office of Vandalia Health (formerly PARS Healthcare) in Belpre. He also previously practiced at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center in Grantsville, Marietta Health Care Physicians in Marietta and Cornerstone Health Care and Parkersburg Family Practice, both in Parkersburg.
Rob Dudley, CEO of Coplin Health Systems, said Cain’s addition will further support the system’s mission to serve the health and wellness needs of its communities.
“We’re thrilled to have Dr. Cain as a member of our primary care team at River Valley Family Care,” Dudley said. “He’s an experienced, caring physician, and throughout his career he’s distinguished himself as a leader, holding various offices and serving on professional committees. He embodies excellence in rural health care.”
Dr. Darrin Nichols, chief medical officer of Coplin Health Systems, added, “Having practiced his entire career in this region, Dr. Cain has a deep understanding of the needs of residents and their families and consistently delivers compassionate, high-quality care.”
While Cain will be seeing patients at River Valley Family Care, he encourages his patients who are unable to make the trip to Ravenswood to see the Coplin Health Systems providers at either Wirt County Family Care or Parkersburg Family Care on Camden Avenue, both of which are accepting new patients.
