On Thursday, Georgia track and field participated in Day 1 of SEC indoor championships hosted by Texas A&M.

The Bulldogs wasted no time setting new records. Freshman Jayden Keys brought home the Men’s SEC Title. He became Georgia’s first freshman to win a men’s SEC championship since 2009. Keys went on to record his best finish with 7.92 meters on his third attempt, beating his old personal best by 0.20 meters. Sophomore Micah Larry came fourth place in the long jump, finishing with a mark of 7.84 meters on his first attempt.

Alon Rogow tied fifth place in the pole vault with a clearance of 5.20 meters on his first attempt. Kaila Jackson posted a 23.20 in the 200- meter dash prelims and placed seventh place. The time marked her second fastest time of the season which led her to qualify for Saturday’s final. Ryan Olree had a personal best time by clocking a time of 13:59.88 in the 5,000 meter.

Maximus Tucker and Jordan Ficks tallied 2,906 and 3,012 points through four events of the heptathlon. Ficks had a personal best in both the 60 meter and the shot put while Tucker added an overall PR in the long jump and an indoor personal best in the shot put.

The Bulldogs returned Friday to the Fasken Indoor Track and Field facility to participate in Day 2 of the SEC Championship.

Fick finished the heptathlon with a personal-best 5,660 points to place third overall and tenth in school history. Aaliyah Butler ran an NCAA-leading 50.59 in the 400 meter prelims and advanced to Saturday’s final.

Will Floyd recorded a 45.33 in the 400m this season, good for fourth place in Georgia history and third in the NCAA this season. Jackson ran a 7.19 in the 60m prelims to finish third, and will now compete in the final on Saturday. Reign Redmon also qualified with a seventh-place 7.28.

Georgia will finish at the SEC Indoor Championships on Saturday afternoon. The first event is the women’s high jump at 3 p.m. ET.
